My Story

My story is short considering the amount of time I have been doing Game Design. I'm an aspiring Technical Designer with six months of hands-on production experience from my involvement in a student project. Before my time at VFS, I had no knowledge of what game development really was. The amount of information that I took in during my one year at a school designed to feel like a studio, was nothing short of amazing. By the end of it, I could make my own game with my own two hands. During my time at VFS, I took on the role of a technical designer and consistently applied industry best practices, recognizing their critical role in achieving success and maintaining a smooth production process. I adeptly implemented features while also continuously refining and enhancing the overall design. My enthusiasm for learning and personal growth fuels my ability to quickly acquire new skills, making me highly adaptable and receptive to instruction. I place a strong emphasis on effective communication and fostering understanding among team members, demonstrated by my role as the primary point of contact for a team of six Sound Design students who collaborated with my team on our final project.

I graduated at an unfortunate time. Right as my year was coming to an end, a spree of mass layoffs occurred. Putting me behind thousands of talented designers and developers, junior and senior. As a fresh graduate, I barely even got any replies from over a year of applications. Trying to navigate through this part of life was hard but taught me so much. I took on a job in fire alarms and landscaping to keep my head above water while I developed games with my classmates or at game jams. I have been contracted to do websites for the same trades company as my technical skills are well known. Even with the lack of employers from the game industry looking my way, I have kept persistent in applying and trying to connect my way into these companies. I will not stop until I'm doing the thing that I love.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in various game engines such as Unity and Unreal, expertise in Blueprinting and C#, hands-on experience with audio and animation implementation, UI programming, proficiency in Photoshop, Google Sheets, and Maya.
